Biography
Below is the biography I typically share when asked for presentation/introduction purposes.
Nathan Harig, owner/only employee of iHarig LLC, is a paramedic and the Assistant Chief of
Administration at Cumberland Goodwill EMS in Carlisle, PA. He came to Carlisle when he was 3
after his father was assigned to the U.S. Army War College. A 2004 graduate of Carlisle High
School, Nathan then went on to graduate from Saint Vincent College in Latrobe, PA with a BA in
Political Science in 2008. After that, he traveled overseas to complete a Masters of Arts in
TransAtlantic Studies from Jagiellonian University in Krakow, Poland in 2010. He returned to
his hometown and lives here today with his wife, and two daughters, Anastasia and Eleanora.
Nathan has been with Cumberland Goodwill since 2002, when he started as a junior volunteer firefighter. His passion for the company grew from volunteer member to part time employee into his full-time career. In addition to emergency response, he is active in public relations and community outreach, regularly speaking and sharing on ways to stay safe at home, work, or play. His other duties at Cumberland Goodwill involve quality improvement, information technology support, and director of public CPR and AED initiatives. Nathan is an alumnus of the Seattle Resuscitation Academy and serves as the Resuscitation Academy’s Lighthouse Coordinator for Cumberland Goodwill EMS.
Nathan was recognized in 2019 as one of the world’s 40 Under 40 leaders in Resuscitation advocacy by the Citizen CPR Foundation, where he later served on a committee encouraging young leaders to help save lives. He has presented at the National Preparedness Expo about the intersection of public safety and civic engagement.
He has served as Treasurer of the American Trauma Society – PA Division, a member of the Board of Directors at the Pennsylvania Emergency Health Services Council, a member of the Emergency Health Services Federation (EHSF) Board of Directors from 2025 to 2026, an EHSF Advisory Board member from 2018 to 2026, regional QI chair at EHSF from 2017 to 2026, and a participant on a variety of other local and regional councils looking at how to improve life for those in our community.
Nathan was the 2021-2022 Carlisle High School Band Distinguished Alumni Award Recipient. He holds a current US amateur radio license at the general level. Finally, Nathan is a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Parish and a former member and past chair of the Carlisle Parks and Recreation Board.
