What is PA EMS Protocols?
An independent display of Pennsylvania’s EMS Protocols with searchability, links to hospitals and other resources, and push notifications for regulatory updates and bulletin notices.
This is an independent hobby project I took on after the frustrations I had as a responder getting quick access to updated information when it came to EMS protocols and other vital info. Too many apps were dependent on slow hospital or health insurance systems that often presented out of date information to providers. I still maintain this hobby project, but I am not available for private hire. While I strive to make sure information is up-to-date in the app, if you notice something is missing please contact me.
If you are an Emergency Medical Responder, EMT, AEMT, Paramedic, Critical Care Paramedic, Nurse, student, or other medical professional in Pennsylvania looking for an app with the latest protocols and hospital data, iHarig’s protocol app is the app for you.
Features
- Offline mode: Opt-in via Settings. Once enabled, protocols are cached on device and available without a connection. Star the ones you reference most for quick access.
- Universal search: Search across BLS, AEMT, ALS, and CC at once, not just within the active tab.
- Tools: Built-in timers, unit conversions, and calculators for common field math.
- Recently viewed: Automatically tracked list of the protocols you’ve opened, no manual pinning.
- Fast updates: Protocol content and bulletins push out quickly, independent of hospital or insurance systems.
- Dark mode: Readable on night shifts across all resources.
- PA Medic integration: Quick access to the EHSF’s PA Medic resource for hospital phone numbers and geolocation, with a fast return path to protocols.
- Regional and state resources: EMS information bulletins, regional protocols and pilot forms, scope of practice, med lists, hospital data, and other curated third-party resources.
- Push notifications: Regulatory updates and bulletin notices delivered to your device.
A connection is required at least once to fetch protocols. To keep them available offline, enable Download protocols for offline use in Settings. Hospital lookups, PA Medic, and update checks always require a live connection. Location permission is used for PA Medic geolocation.
